Community is looking for volunteers to build a national network of trained regional representatives
The Membersí Representation & Support Network is a new and exciting initiative which will support our members, and free up our officerís time for recruitment and organising.
The Network has two main functions:
- To provide professional support, advice & guidance to members in dispute with their employers, and to provide accompaniment to members in mainly unrecognised workplaces who have been asked to attend grievance, disciplinary and appeal hearings.
- To provide assistance to the Regions with recruitment and retention work.
We are building a national network of Regional Representatives, who have experience of representing members and are keen to be a part of this new and exciting initiative.
Over the years Community has supported its members with a wealth of advice and training. We need to draw on this skills-base to support and strengthen our current membership.
Supporting one another is a key principle of trade unionism. It is Community unionism in action and personally rewarding. The role may appeal to members who:
- have recently retired;
- have been made redundant or are out of work;
- are in employment but feel they can give up some of their time.
This will be a volunteer role, however our representatives will receive full travel expenses and subsistence allowance for time spent undertaking duties on this project.
Once likely candidates have been selected, interviews will be arranged to take place regionally. All training needs will be identified and accredited training will be delivered.
Representatives will be provided with a photo ID card stating they have been certified by Community to act as a Regional Representative.
Our Regional Representatives will be trained to the highest standard to ensure that members are provided with an excellent service.
We are aware that there may be members who would like the opportunity to be part of this new initiative, but whom we have not yet identified as potential Regional Representatives.
If you are interested in volunteering for these roles and would like an Application Pack, or would like further information please contact either of our Memberís Representation & Support Officers:
