Education & Training

Community offers education and Training to all our members

Community believes that education and access to learning and training are a fundamental human right for everyone. Education is power, it builds confidence and self esteem and gives dignity and respect.

Community delivers training via Communitas, formerly known as Knowledge Skills Partnership (KSP), our education and training subsidiary. Community is the only union to have such a subsidiary.

Community is also an affiliate to the GFTU (General Federation of Trade Unions), which runs a number of courses open to Community members. Please follow the link above to find out more.

As an integral part of Community, Communitas strives constantly to provide the best education, training and learning opportunities to the members, their families and communities.

As a union one of the most important things we do is the education and training of branch officials, which, of course now includes Union Learning Reps (ULR). The education and training programme is designed to help lay officials run their branches and provide the most effective representation to our members

Community supports members that wish to upgrade their skills.

Community will pay the ‘actual travel costs’ and a small subsistence allowance to cover lunch, for members that attend TUC training courses.

The TUC course must be on a subject that Community does not offer itself, and members need to apply to their Branch or Regional office prior to participating in the course.
